ANGOLAN UNREST
Terrorists Active LISBON, March 20 About 1000 children have been evacuated in terroristridden areas of northern Angola to the capital, Luanda, according to Lisbon reports. News of the evacuation comes after reports of massacres of women and children in terrorist attacks. The Lisbon “Diaro Popular” said that whites and blacks fought side by side in the village of Sao Salvador against an attack “coming from the Congo frontier.” “Other men who had infiltrated into Angola some time ago had joined the assailants,” it said. “Security forces sent to Sao Salvador annihilated the rioters.”
The Lisbon paper “O Seculo” reported in a dispatch from Luanda that the women and children of the village of Madimba—about 450 miles north of Luanda—were slaughtered by the terrorists after the whimpering of the children betrayed their hiding place. As the attackers drew near, the men of the village both European and Africans, hid the women and children in high grass and went to Sao Salvador for reinforcements. When they returned they found their families slaughtered and all the houses burnt down.
