Vanishing Pens

Sir, —You report that the Post Office has decided to fasten their ball point pens to the desk. It is a pity that so many people are lacking in honesty. No other pens can be bought in the regular Post Office red colour, so when one sees a red pen people can wonder where it came from. I am told that, by arrangement, the manufacturers reserved the current red ball point pen exclusively for Post Office orders. This was given publicity. The next step will be to prosecute the thieves. Will they not have to nail the desks, in case the public takes the desk, too? It is a sad reflection On public honesty.—Yours, etc., PENS. March 2f>, 1961.
