Glynne Adams and Farquhar Wilkinson, is already known here for its high standard of musicianship. Allegri Quartet The first New Zealand tour of this group well known for its part in the 8.8. C. Chamber Music Concerts and its recordings in the “History of Music” series. Julian Olevsky and Wolfgang Rose Mr Olevsky has received great critical acclaim recently for his mastery of the violin and this concert should be one of the more important events of the season. Mr Rose, a nephew of Gustav Mahler, brings to the piano repertoire an inherited musical distinction. Quartetto di Roma This quartet is one of the finest musical groups today and will give two concerts for Christchurch members. Fine Arts Quartet Excellent recordings will have made many familiar with this American group which, on its second European tour was described as having “eclipsed memories of the most famous European ensembles.” IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR SUBSCRIPTION SERIES, MEMBERS WILL BE ENTITLED TO SUBSTANTIAL PRICE REDUCTIONS FOR TWO CONCERTS TO BE GIVEN BY THE Berlin Chamber Orchestra which will visit Christchurch in August. Founded 30 years ago by its present conductor, Hans van Benda, it is claimed to be one of the finest orchestras of its kind The Society now has regrettably few vacancies for new members.
