Satisfactory Trend To Trading Directors of Farrier-Wai-mak, Ltd., announced that trading for the first six months of the present financial year has been satisfactory. Conditions are still highly competitive, but the company continues to secure its share of the work offering. Construction equipment has been fully occupied during 1 the season and there are contracts on hand to ensure work for a reasonable period ahead. Demand on the shingle ‘ plant continues to increase and it has been found necessary to work the plant extended hours. Owing to seasonal fluctuations figures for a six month i period do not necessarily reflect results of a trading , year, but in relation to last year the trend is satisfactory. A. E. Goodwin Gets N.S.W. Rail Order A. E. Goodwin, Ltd., engineer and shipbuilder, has received an order worth more than £20,000 from the New South Wales Railways for the largest rail vehicle yet built in Australia. Managing director of A. E. Goodwin (Mr T. C. Edgar! said yesterday that the railway waggon had been especially designed to carry heavy transformers and alternator stators for the Electricty Commission. ■ The waggon would be over 92ft long and would have a capacity of 180 tons and a tare weight of 86 tons, he said. Sims Turnover Maintained Turnover of Albert G. Sims. Ltd., metal dealer and processor, has been maintained at higher levels since June 30, 1960, directors report. Profits were a little lower, I but the net result for the year should be satisfactory, they state. New plant installed in Melbourne—to be duplicated in Sydney soon—is expected to increase export earnings. Branches in other States are trading satisfactorily. Matters at present before the Land and Valuation Court will be reported by the directors when resolved.
