MISSING PLANE SOUGHT

Burnt Area Of Jungle Seen

PORT MORESBY. Mar. 9 Searching aircraft today spotted a burnt area of jungle near where a twinengined Piaggio went missing yesterday in the Owen Stanley mountains. A close aerial inspection of the area indicated the burnt jungle was not caused by an air crash

A spokesman for Papuan Air Transport, owners ot the missing plane, said a ground party would be sent into the area “to make sure.” Five aircraft searched all day today without any definite sight of the plane. The search will continue tomorrow.
