“HAT OF THE DAY” COMPETITION

Any smart woman in town during Christchurch Millinery Week (March 10 to 17) will have the opportunity of winning a free model hat in the “Hat of the Day” ccontest. •

Each days winner, to be selected from five photographs taken, will be awarded a prize of £5 5s and a model hat. The other four will also receive cards entitling them to choose a free hat from a named millinery salon, as they are photographed.

A photographer will be posted somewhere in the city streets to take pictures of women in attractive hats every day during Millinery Week, except Saturday and Sunday.

He will be accompanied by millinery salon buyers, who will select five women daily to be photographed. From the group will be named the woman who wore the “hat of the day.”

“The Press” will publish a picture of the winner on the morning after each contest.

About 30 millinery salons have undertaken to supply one free model hat a day, during the six days of the competition.
