FILIPINO GUIDES

Visit To West Coast

The way in which guiding is carried on in New Zealand is being observed by two Filipino guides who are on a goodwill visit to this country under a S.E.A.T.O. scheme. The two girls. Misses Ciony Singh and Angela Andreas, were in Greymouth this week. They spent a night with the Dobson Guides and Brownies. The next day they attended a large gathering of Brownies in Greymouth, and taught them some of their native games. Grevmouth Girl Guides met the Filipino Guides later in the afternoon. Both the girls are full-time salaried guiding staff in the Philippines. Miss Angela Andreas has a bachelor of science degree, and is also qualified in physical education Miss Ciony Singh is a bachelor of laws, and was a secondary school teacher before taking up her present position.
