SHARES IN N.A.C.

No Move Yet For Sale

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Mar. 9. “It’s part of our policy, but it’s not yet been dealt with,” said the Acting-Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) at his press conference tonight when asked about a suggestion that a prospectus for the sale to the public of shares in the National Airways Corporation was being prepared. Asked whether the matter would be dealt with soon Mr Marshall said that it would be a matter for’ the Minister concerned.

The sale of the National Airways Corporation as a whole was contemplated during the period *of office of the previous National Government, when Mr Goosman was Minister of Civil Aviation. The prospect of finding a purchaser faded, however, when the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) said that if the corporation were sold Labour on gaining power would nationalist it once more.

The present National Government’s policy for internal air services provides for the development of the National Airways Corporation and adequate airport facilities to give a service within the means of the average family traveller. As traffic becomes able to bear the cost, the full expense of providing ancillary airport and airways facilities will be transferred to the user.
