Union Talks To Go On Today

f.V.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 8. An executive meeting of the New Zealand Freezing Workers’ Union to discuss the latest developments in the strike at the Burnside freezing works was adjourned from this afternoon until tomorrow morning.

The national secretary of the union (Mr S. Arnst) said after the meeting that there were no developments. He could not say whether there would be meetings with the management, nor how long the strike was likely to last. “I cannot say we are any nearer a solution,’' Mr Arnst said. “However, there will be a meeting of all workers at the works tomorrow morning to acquaint the men with the situation.” No men apart from those processing perishable goods and the salaried staff presented themselves for work today.

Members of the staff were still killing tor the local market. There was no killing for the export market The situation at the Bumside works was being watched closely by the Canterbury Freezing Workers' Union, and no stock from Burnside would be handled at works in Canterbury until the dispute there was settled, the union secretary (Mr T. Handisides) said yesterday.
