CONFUSION AT ANDERSONS.—What looks to be a starter’s dream or a judge’s nightmare is in reality a closely-packed fleet taking a mark halfway through a 12-miles race. The incredible jumble illustrated took place in the Charteris Bay regatta race for the Douglas Cox Trophy last Sunday. Fifty-eight yachts of all popular classes in Canterbury started off at different times and 44 of them piled on the Andersons Bay mark at once when the wind dropped and the back markers drifted up to the leaders on an incoming tide. About 26 of the yachts moving around the mark are shown.
