Water Polo AUCKLANDERS' SUCCESS
National Contest Events (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. March 3. Quicker to the ball and with much better tactics Waitesnata. the champion Auckland club team, entered the final of the national inter-club Ryan Cup water polo contest with a 12-3 win over the Wellington Club team today. Auckland won its second title when its B grade side, after a win and a ioas with the only other team, Wellington, won this morning 11-5. These, and Waikato's effort to win second place in the A grade contact—with Wellington again the sufferer—were the major events at the national water polo championships at the Parnell baths. The championships will end tomorrow with two junior grade games, the Grocott Cup team swimming relay, the Ryan Cup final between Waitemata .and the South Island champion. Spreydon, and an exhibition match between New Zealand and the Rest. With A. Griffiths again in splendid form with seven goals. Waikato was clearly superior in the A grade match against Wellington and won 10-5. Auckland had won the title on Thursday. Results:— A Grade.—Waikato 10, Wellington 5. Final placing*: Auckland 1.
