Halyard May Succeed “The Press’’ Special Service INVERCARGILL. Feb. 24. Halyard. Acquiesce and Lynrobyn promise to be seen to advantage in the Southern Stakes, for three-year-olds at the Invercargill Trotting Club’s twilight, meeting tomorrow. Halyard has raced very little as yet but he showed ability to finish fourth to King Hal, Jay-ar and Flying Note in the Oamaru Stakes at his first appearance in public. Acquiesce has been placed in two of her three starts this season, and Lynrobyn. showed smart form as an early two-year-old. The first race is timed for 3 p.m. and the last race at 6.50 pjn. There has been rain during the week but it has had little effect on the track. Faru, in the President’s Handicap, and Chiffon, in the Members’ Handicap, will be a strongly fancied T.A.B. double combination. Selections:— 3 p.m.—Thomson Handicap: Johnny Dean. Flying Look. Stinger. 3.30 p.m.—Monowai Handicap: Poupette. Flying Paddy. Minnow. 4.5 p.m.—Novice Handicap: Mannequiri Parade. Ajax. Good Luck. 4.35 p.m.—Southern Stakes: Halyard. Acquiesce. Lynrobyn. 5.15 p.m.—President’s Handicap: Faru, Gentles. Legis. 5.45 p.m.—Probationary Handicap: Native Tryax. Factory Queen, Auburn Light. 6.15 pjn.—Glengarry Handicap: Hindu. Rest Assured.
