FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation: — A shallow depression is moving eastwards off northern districts of the North Island; a ridge of high pressure lies over the eastern Tasman Sea and the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate north-easterlies; weather partly cloudy; temperatures warm inland; moderate to mild near the coast. Outlook: similar conditions. West Coast.—Moderate westerly winds; weather becoming cloudy; temperatures mild. Outlook: occasional rain. Nelson and Marlborough.—Winds light to moderate and variable; some scattered areas of fog or low cloud at night and in the morning but weather otherwise fine; temperatures mild.
