HOLIDAYS FOR HOUSEWIVES
Labour Party Women Give Approval
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, February 20 Delegates to an Australian Labour Party women’s convention yesterday voted overwhelmingly for holidays for housewives. Only three women spoke against the motion. One called herself an "old maid.” Another said she could not bear to spend her holidays surrounded by other housewives. The New South Wales Labour Women’s Organising Committee conference accepted a motion from a branch that the Labour Party adopt the Swedish policy of annual holidays for housewives. Mrs M Foster, who moved the motion, said: “The housewife’s labour of love is her happiness, but there comes a time when this also becomes sheer drudgery, owing to her health breaking down and the tension and strain of inflationary trends of present dav living." .
