28 Shows Given In Last Year

The Canterbury Society of Magicians presented 28 shows to various organisations during 1960. said the report at the annual meeting. Individual m e m b e r s’ performances amounted to more than 500. On the international day of magic (Houdini Day), held on October 29, members gave 62 performances. During the year. 19 institutions were entertained free of charge. The society’s award of merit and the efficiency shield for the most efficient and creditable member for 1960 was won by Mr R. M Lewis.

Officers elected were: President. Mr G G Pratley; vicepresident. Mr R M. Lewis: secretary, Mr W Raines: treasurer. Mr R. Williams; committee member. Mr R. B. Scandrett; librarians, Messrs P. Sweeney and G. Dorman; auditor, Mr Dorman: examining panel. Messrs R. Lewis. J. Boughen, S. Oakley, G. Pratley, P. Sweeney.
