Win For B. de Thier

The final race for the Canterbury P class championship was held on the Estuary yesterday afternoon. The Mount Pleasant yatchsman B. de Thier, in Sparkey. won the race—his third consecutive w'in in the series—and took the championship, which carries the G. Mander trophy. De Thier is the present holder of the Gisborne Cup, the prize given to the runner-up of the interprovincia] P class contest. His nearest rival on the championship points table w’as R. Neale, of Charteris Bay. Neale did not sail yesterday. Of the 15 boys who did, C. Boulton, m Skip, was the only contestant who gave de Thier any competition. Over the four miles Olympic-type course Boulton came out only 22 seconds behind the champion. Results of the race were:— Sparkey (B. de Thier). 2:543, 1; Skip (C. Boulton). 2:54.25, 2; Petite (P. Skelton). 2:55.48, 3; Wisp (R. Buick) 2:56.17, 4.
