Aggregate

Canterbury’s outstanding batsman this season, P. G. Z. Harris, has so far scored 595 runs in firstclass matches this season, the second-highest aggregate ever achieved by a Canterbury batsman. In the 1935-36 season. J. L. Kerr was in especially good form. He made three centuries against the touring M. C. C. team, and his season's total was 655, a record for a Canterbury player. He scored the runs in 13 innings, and with two not outs, he averaged 59.55. Harris so far has also had 13 innings and been not out twice, for an average of 54.1. He will almost certainly be playing in the third unofficial test at Christchurch next month and will then have a chance to score the 60 runs he needs to equal Kerr’s record. Other Canterbury batsmen who have totalled more than 500 in season are R. C. Blunt (583 in 1922-23), VV. A. Hadlee (537 in 1947-48), S. C. Guillen (535 in 195556) J. G. Leggat (531 in 1952-53) and Guillen (529 in 1953-54).
