STALLION PARADE
Top Sires Seen
A large crowd, which included many overaeaa visitors to the Inter-Dom-inion Championships, saw 10 high-class trotting atalliona paraded in the birdcage at New Brighton yesterday afternoon. The parade was one of the features of an afternoon's entertainment, which also included race trials, arranged by the Canterbury Trotting Owners’ and Breeders’ Association in conjunction with the New Brighton and Amberley Trotting Clubs. The stallion parade included the imported sires Light Brigade, Smokey Hanover and Stormyway. The Colonialbred stallions paraded were Court Martial, Fallacy, Johnny Globe, Local Light, Soangetaha, Van Dieman and Springbok. All were produced in splendid order. The crowd was quick to applaud Johnny Globe, a public idol in the Dominion throughout an outstanding race career, as he was brought into the birdcage. Although the Logan Derby entire has thickened considerably since his retirement from racing in the 1956-57 season he still bears the appearance of a horse which could be quickly brought back to racing trim.
