Junior Council’s Name
The Christchurch Junior City Council decided last evening to change its name to the Christchurch Junior Council. The motion was opposed by Mr A. Leach on the grounds that the change of name would jeopardise the chance of the junior council having representation on the committees of the Christchurch City Council. Mr G. H. Reddell also opposed the change saying that a junior organisation should take its name from its parent body. The word “city” also gave a measure of prestige, he said. > Several members disagreed with the objections. “It does not matter what we are called,” said Mr R. K. Godfrey.
