The 309 bulls sold on the first day of the three-day Aberdeen Angus sale yesterday brought £278,719, compared with £236.248 paid for 342 last year. The total included a new British sale ring record of 28.000gns—which beat the old record by lOOOgns—paid by Mr Keith Bromley, of Ashley Manor, King's Somborne, Hampshire, for the reserve supreme champion and senior champion. Argentine buyers easily led the field in the export market, paying £42,052 for 19 animals, while five worth £7lOB went to South American countries and three were bought for New Zealand breeders for £24,500.
