AIR SCOUTS’ TROPHY
Win By Wigram Troop After taking the first three places in one event and winning the De Havilland trophy. 18 boys of the Wigram Air Scout Troop returned to Christchurch yesterday from a Dominion air scout camp at Blenheim.
First and second places were gained by the troop in the De Havilland trophy for the best display of model aircraft and first, second, and third equal placing were taken in a competition for judging the speed, height, and distance away of flying aircraft.
Boys of the troop also found a “stranded pilot” in a search and rescue exercise in the hills near Blenheim.
At the camp most of the boys had the opportunity of having a flight in both a glider and powered aircraft and most were given the chance to take control of the aircraft or glider.
It is possible that a second Dominion camp will be held at Ardmore in 1963.
