Values for most descriptions , of Merino fleece and skirtings, compared with the improved Brisbane levels last week, were 2} - per cent, higher at Sydney today. Fine to superfine types, which remained unchanged, were the exception. There was particularly strong competition from Japan, with good support from East Europe, the Continent, Britain and local mills. Comebacks, crossbreds and cardings met keen demand and were quoted 2} per cent, to 5 per cent, higher, the greatest appreciation being shown for medium and stronger quality crossbreds. Crossbred prices: good 58's. 66 Id per lb., good average 56’s 62d, average 58’s 594 d.
