Channel Bridge Proposal
(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, Jan. 26. Private French interests today formed a company to study the possibility of building a bridge across the English channel. The project is promoted by the Union Routiere, a Stateapproved organisation speaking for French road transport and motoring interests. The Union Routiere opposes the channel tunnel project. An initial project envisages a bridge from Cap Blanc Nez. near Calais, to South Foreland. carrying both road traffic and trains. The study company will now draft more concrete plans to be submitted to the British and French Governments.
