President Kennedy has ordered publication of polls taken abroad, which were reported to show that United States prestige overseas had declined since the Soviet Union launched its first Sputnik. The order was disclosed today by the White House Press Secretary’. Mr Pierre Salinger. Some of the polls would be published by the United States Information Agency tomorrow. he said. The status of the United States prestige overseas was a major issue in the recent election. with Democrats charging that President Eisenhower was withholding the results of the polls in order to conceal the drop in United States prestige.
