No Ark For Insects

"The Press" Special Service HAMILTON, Jan. 23. Millions of alarmed insects swarmed on to the upper branches 4>f trees beside the Waikato river as Lake Oakuri filled on Saturday. Many of the insects were wetas up to four inches long. Hawks circled around the treetops, apparently searching for mice disturbed by the rising water. Trout were seen rising frequently as insects flew across the water. A party in a small boat on the lake rescued a fourinch gecko lizard of brilliant colouring that was swimming furiously in search of a safe place. The lizard was released on land.
