Top Seed Withdraws With Injury (New Sealant* Press AssociflMon) TIMARU, January 2. In the second day's play in the South Canterbury tennis championships today, the top seed, J. Anderson (Wellington) had to withdraw because of an injured shoulder which he suffered in a singles match. The second and third seeds, R. J. Callander (Wellington) and P. Kelly (Manawatu), reached the quarterfinals of the singles. The other quarter-finalist was the Wellington junior, B. P. Taylor, who won by default from Anderson. There were no upsets in the women’s singles and the first and second seeds. Misses M. Oliver and G. Liddiard (South Canterbury), will meet in the final.
