An on-course double dividend of £235 3* for £1 was the feature of the opening day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s summer meeting at Hasting* on Saturday. The winning combination was Red Spy, the eighth favourite in the Otatara High-weight, and the third favourite. Llanos, in the Femhill Handicap. Red Spy paid £23 12* for his win. The off-course double went to Fils d'Or. the second favourite in the Hastings Gold Cup. and Bloomful. which was fifth favourite tn the Stewards’ Handicap The combination paid £142 10s fid for £l. There was a pool of £59.021, In which Fils d’Or carried 29.233 5s tickets, of which 1369 were reinvested on Bloomful. The totalisator handled £78.582.
