SOS RADIO CALL RECEIVED

May Have Been Sent By Children (New Zsatand Press Association) WHANGAREI. December 31. A radio message "SOS, stranded Kawau Point.” kept the Whangarei marine radio operator (Mr A. H. Somner) busy ter two hours and a half last evening. At 5.55 pm. the Auckland police received the message and asked Mr Somner to listen tor any further messages. Mr Somner did so and found that the launch True Blue had engine trouble off Kawau Island and had radioed for assistance. The ea!l bad been answered by, the launch Lorna Doom. How-1

ever, the True Blue denied sending out an SOS. Auckland later advised Mr Somner that the origins! message had apparently been sent by children, but its origin was | unknown.
