Golf TOURNEY AT WAITIKIRI

Senior Event To K. D. Foxton K. D. Foxton won the senior championship at the Waitiklri Golf Club’s New Year open tournament, held on Sunday, after a play-off with E. H. M. Richard*. Both Foxton and Richards returned aggregates of 150 for the morning and afternoon rounds. With the field limited to 108 players, conditions were ideal and some good golf was seen. The best round in the morning was made by Foxton in 74. R. D. Kearns (Otago) went round in 76 and J. S. Roxburgh (Nelson) and Richards went round in 78. R. C. Murray, who was fourth in the morning round, finished with a score of 79. In the afternoon, Murray showed the excellent form which he is capable of, returning a round of 72. However, it was not quite good enough to make up for his poor showing in the morning and gave him a win. Richards also returned a round of 72. J. S. Roxburgh and R. D. Kearns went round in 73 and 75 respectively. Foxton returned a 76 to equal Richards with an aggregate of 150. Scoring a birdie on the first hole. Foxton won the play off. Murray, Roxburgh and Kearns all had aggregates of 151. A play-off for the intermediate title was won by B. L. Notley from P. Amos. Both players scored aggregates of 166.
