OIL ENTERPRISE IN PAPUA Talks To Be Held In London Directors of Oil Search, Ltd., are to discuss future plans for the Papuan oil enterprise with partners in London on January 10 and 11. The two other companies concerned are British Petroleum and Vacuum Oil Company. The chairman of Oil Search (Mr G. B. Kater) told the November annual meeting that there was no announced forward programme after the current lehi drilling. Latest report from lehi, issued on December 23, states that a drill stem test of a sandstone below 4708 feet yielded a gas flow at the rate of 31m cubic feet a day. No condensate was produced with the gas. Drill stem tests of sandstones below 5240 feet and 5350 feet recovered water with some solution gas. Further testing of sandstone at 4708 feet will proceed. A. L. Vincent Ind. Profit Drops A. L. Vincent Industries, Ltd., Sydney engineers, will maintain dividend at 4 per cent for the year ended June 30, in spite of a 74.8 per cent, fall in net profit Profit for the year dropped by £15,883 to £5395, compared with a £797 rise in the previous year. It is after tax £2098 (down £8669) and depreciation £11,027 (up £278). Earning rate on capital moves down from 10.6 to 2.6 per cent A wider range of products and maintenance of satisfactory budget figures for the first five months of the current year confirm prospects for improvement directors’ annual report says.
