(PA.) Dangerous Channel * There is a dangerous channel at North Beach but the flags have been placed to one side of it and swimming is safe between the flags, the North Beach Surf Club has advised. The seas are moderate and there is no drift. At. other beaches the surf is moderate, except at Waimairi, where it was reported last evening as fairly heavy. Bathing is safe between the flags. Chemists Busy The all-night dispensary in New Regent street has had one of its busiest Christmas periods. From Saturday to yesterday noon more than 1000 prescriptions had been dispensed. A chemist on the staff said it was impossible to say why the dispensary had been busier than at any previous Christmas recently. There had been no particular type of illness or injury. In addition to the prescriptions, the staff during the days and evenings had been busy with persons wanting such things as baby’s food, sticking plaster, and proprietary lines of medicines. The dispensary staff, in spite of the number of customers, had been able to provide good service. Invalid’s Journey Taking 8J hours for the journey, Mr H. H. Cadogan arrived at New Plymouth at 5 p.m. yesterday after travelling from Auckland in his invalid chair. The president of the Auckland Disabled Citizens’ Society, Mr Cadogan is on a North Island tour in his invalid chair to gain recruits for the society. He had no trouble on the journey from Auckland and cruised for most of the way at 40 miles an hour. He will leave this morning for Wanganui and tomorrow will travel on to Wellington.—(P.A.) Islands Co-operatives There were 42 registered cooperatives and 20 school children’s co-operatives in the Cook Islands at the end of September.
