British Soccer Spurs Retain 10-Point Lead In First Division

.LONDON, December 26. Tottenham Hotspurs made it a happy Christmas for its supporters by beating West Ham today, 3-0. to complete a double over its London rivals and retain its 10-point lead at the top of the first division of the English League. Spurs now has 44 points from 24 matches, and is well on the way to beating Arsenal's first division record of 66. Its position was further strengthened today, as Sheffield Wednesday could only draw 1-1 with Arsenal and reigning-cham-pions Burnley lost 1-3 at home to Everton. Wolverhampton Wanderers, which completed a Christmas double by defeating Aston Villa, 3-2. remains in second place with 34 points from 24 games, and Everton is third with 32 points from 23 games. The biggest win in the first division today was Manchester United’s 6-0 drubbing of Chelsea. In the second division the leader. Sheffield United, dropped a point in a 1-1 draw with Sunderland.
