Life-Saving AUSTRALIANS’ THIRD WIN
Auckland Beaten Narrowly (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 27. The Australian surf team won its third carnival in New Zealand at Whakatane today when it beat an improved Auckland team by the narrow margin of three points. J. Donohoe, the Australian captain, maintained his unbeaten record for the tour by again taking the surf race from his team-mate, H. Kenny. Surprisingly, J. Sneyd (Eastern United) beat R. Harker (Red Beach) for third place. Harker, however, again proved superior to the visitors in the beltmen’s race. Results:— Six-man Rescue and Rescusitation. —Auckland (8.35 deductions) 1, Australia (10.40) 2, Bay of Plenty (17.2) 3. Senior Beltmen’s Race.—R. Harker (Auckland) 1, K. Wiles (Australia) 2, R.
