Previous Air Disasters
(Rec. 8 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 17. The worst civil airlines disaster in history—like yesterday’s disaster—also involved the crash of two commercial planes. It took a toll of 128 lives. It occurred on June 30, 1956, when a Super Constellation of Trans-World Airlines and a United Airlines DC-7 collided and crashed over the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The world’s worst air accident occurred on June 18, 1953, when a United States Air Force C-124 Gflobemaster crashed near Tokyo, killing 129 persons, including the crew of seven.
