FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone is moving away to the northeast of the North Island, and a complex trough of low pressure is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast:— Nelson.—Fresh to strong north-westerlies outside Tasman Bay, otherwise moderate to fresh northerlies; cloudy, with occasional rain, more especially in the western ranges; temperatures moderate. Central Marlborough and Sounds.—North-west winds, strong to gale force in and near Cook Strait, otherwise fresh; mainly cloudy, with scattered light showers; temperatures mild. Kaikoura coast and Canterbury.—Moderate northeasterlies about the coast, moderate to fresh northwesterlies inland; cloudy, with rain in the Alps and some occasional light rain elsewhere; temperatures mild. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds; overcast, with periods of rain; temperatures moderate. Outlook.—All districts: unsettled. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
