MODEL TRAIN ENTHUSIASTS
Annual Exhibition On Saturday More than 60 persons attended the annual exhibition and women's evening of the Railway Modellers’ Society of Christchurch, held in the Holy Trinity Church Hall, Stanmore road, on Saturday. Twenty items were displayed in three sections—lineside equipment, rolling stock, and original models. Rolling stock was demonstrated on an intricate lay-out of tracks that included almost everything expected on an ordinary railway. The gathering was shown films of a car journey through Persia, the 1957 1000-mile road race in Italy, and a tour through the Chrysler automobile factory in the United States. The cup for the best lineside equipment was awarded to Mr H. Bennett, the cup for the best rolling stock was awarded to Mr R. Sofia, and the cup for the most original model went to Mr G. Adams. Mr Adams’s entry was a field surrounded by gorse hedges made of sponge rubber, five trees made of wire and sponge rubber, and a few sheep and lambs.
