NEW YACHT FOR LYTTELTON

Sloop Built At Timaru (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, December 9. A 34-foot sloop designed by Mr E. Cox, of Redcliffs, for Mr D. C. Gould, of Christchurch, has been built at the yard of Mr D. F. Robb, of Timaru. The yacht, which will be taken to Lyttelton next week by the owner, has a 45-foot Oregon mast fashioned in Christchurch. The yacht has a waterline length of 25 feet, a 10ft beam, and a draught of 4ft 9in. The displacement is 6.2 tons, and the lead keel weighs 2.5 tons. The yacht is powered by a 13 horsepower diesel motor, and has a kauri hull and decks. She will be fitted with a galley and five bunks. The frame spacings are much closer than usual, and the hull is very rigidly fastened, with 1 1-8 inch planking. The cambered beams on the cabin top are laminated. The deck seams are filled with a new type of caulking compound.
