Woomera Captain Acquitted

SYDNEY, Dec. 9. A naval court martial today acquitted Lieutenant-Commander Douglas Alfred Marshall of all four charges against him. Marshall was captain of H.M.A.S. Woomera, an ammunition ship when it caught fire and sank off Sydney Heads on October 11. In the fire and consequent sinking two crew members were lost. There were 25 survivors. The prosecution had alleged Marshall had through negligence caused the Woomera to be lost or “hazarded.”
