MR D. L. STEVEN, the board’s sewage treatment engineer, examining a part of one of the trickling filters. Mr Steven was sent by the board to the United States several years ago to work with the San Francisco firm of engineers which designed the plant. He also visited modern sewage treatment plants throughout America, and has been in charge of the Christchurch project from its beginning.
