Eight Wickets To Tourists

Queensland, with a first innings lead of 74 after dismissing the visiting West Indies cricket team for 357, had scored 189 for eight in its second innings when stumps were drawn at Brisbane Cricket Ground today. The pitch took spin well today, and the West Indies may have a tough job saving the match on the Last day tomorrow against the Queensland slow bowlers. West* away and Lihou. The visitors’ choice of bowlers seemed bad today, when Valentine was only brought in to bowl on to a worn patch at one end erf the pitch 15 minutes before stumps. Valentine quickly dismissed McLaughlin for 43. Sobers. however, bowled splendidly to take full advantage of the pitch and finished with five for 63 off 22 overs. Queensland, in spite of its firstinnings lead, batted laboriously and made no attempt to force the pace. Reynolds struggled for half an hour for five runs before being caught by Nurse.
