Early Stonefruit

Peaches from Blenheim, still rather small and green, were sold in Christchurch produce markets on Friday from 15s to 18s a tray. Raspberries are also beginning to appear and local fruit were on sale in shops at 4s 9d per lb Cherries are now plentiful and the local variety, which are darker coloured, sold in shops up to 6s per lb. Strawberries are also reasonably plentiful and the best, which are of high quality, sold at 5s a punnet in shops. Green peppers are also available at 4s a half pound in shops.
