Encouraging Effort
K. McDowell, a Waimairi junior, gave a very encouraging performance in the paddle board race at the Canterbury Surf LifeSaving Association’s opening carnival. last Sunday. . Although he was beaten home by K. McDonald (Sumner), who was first equal in the event at the national championships, it appeared that McDowell had a good chance of winning until McDonald caught a shoot a short distance from the shore to win.
