BROKER, Town Clerk. 8763 CLOSED FIRE SEASON IN THE WAITAKI CATCHMENT COMMISSION’S DISTRICT Pursuant to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1947 the lighting of fires in the open air is prohibited throughout the whole of the Waitaki Catchment Commission’s District are from November 30, 1960. This prohibition cancels all existing permits to burn but does not apply to well constructed camp fire places situated 10ft from trees or other combustible material. (Grass and other combustible material must be cleared for 10ft around the fire place and fires completely extinguished before leaving the site.) Persons requiring special permits may apply to the Waitaki Catchment Commission, Kurow. This notice shall remain in force until amended or cancelled by a further notice. G. G.
