FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT
Situation.— A low pressure area centred to the east of the North Island is maintaining a cool southerly airflow over New Zealand. An anti-cyclone is centred over the western Tasman Sea. Forecast:— Nelson and central Marlborough.—Light to moderate south to south-east winds; cloudy with a few light showers at first, but weather becoming fine later in the morning; temperatures cool. The Sounds and the Kaikoura Coast.—Southerly winds, mainly moderate to fresh, but strong in exposed places near Cook Strait; cloudy with a few light showers at first, but weather becoming partly cloudy by tomorrow afternoon; temperatures cool. West Coast.—Moderate winds from a southerly quarter; partly cloudy, with moderate day temperatures. Canterbury.—Light to moderate south to south-east winds; a few further light showers near the coast "in the early morning, otherwise partly cloudy with cool temperatures. K ~ Outlook: all districts: fine.
