Rugby FRENCH TEAM’S VISIT

Successful Tour Forecast

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 21. “The visit of the French team next year means that Rugby is breaking new ground in New Zealand,” the chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union (Mr C. S. Hogg) said today. “It will be the first time a French Rugby Union team has come to New Zealand. The negotiations between the two countries have been conducted in the spirit that all possible will be done to make a success of the tour,” he said.

Mr Hogg said that from his own experience of watching the French play Rugby and the popularity of the team which went to South Africa two years ago, he thought Rugby followers here had every reason to look forward to some wonderful games next year. He said the French team would play at least one game in Australia—on August 26.
