MUSICIANS FROM N.Z.

Hopkins, Rosner

Praised

(N2. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, November 21. Melbourne’s week-end music was much enhanced by the presence of two New Zealand visitors —John Hopkins, who conducted the Victorian Symphony Orchestra on Saturday night, and the violinist, Francis Rosner, who played for the Allegro Club on Sunday! the Melbourne “Age” music critic said today. “John Hopkins Is a gifted musician who adheres closely to the score, gaining orchestral control through a precise beat and meaningful gestures.” he said.

. The writer also said: “Mr Rosner is a violinist of the first order, with an effortless command of the fingerboard and rich tonal qualities which stood him in good stead in the unaccompanied Frankel Sonata.”
