Kennedy Meets Ribicoff
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright J PALM BEACH (Florida). Nov. 15. The President-elect. Mr John Kennedy, today conferred with the Governor of Connecticut. Mr Abraham Ribicoff. who has been mentioned as a probable member of the Kennedy Cabinet.
Mr Ribicoff told reporters after sipending more than four hours with Mr Kennedy—in talks, at lunch and on the go-lf course—only that no Cabinet appointment had been offered him.
He has been mentioned as a likely prospect for AttorneyGeneral, according to United Press International. The Governor said any details of his conference with Mr Kennedy would have to come from the Presidentelect.
Tomorrow, Mr Kennedy will confer with the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Mr Allen Dulles. Later tomorrow he will take a break from his Florida “vacation” and fly to the Texas ranch of the Vice-Pre.?ident-elect. Mr Lyndon Johnson, for a series of talks lasting until Thursday evening.
Mr Ribicoff met Mr Kennedy at the Kennedy family’s oceanfront estate as it became known that Mr Kennedy talked with Vice-President Richard Nixon yesterday about possibly naming at least two Republicans to Cabinet-level posts next year, U.P.I. said.
According to Republican sources. Mr Kennedy neither asked Mr Nixon’s approval of rhe idea nor suggested that Mr Nixon take such a post, the news agency said. But these sources said he did discuss specific names and jobs during his 63-minute talk with Mr Nixon, and the VicePresident listened without signifying any agreement to support the plan.
