Starlings Halt Jet Airliner

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) BOSTON, November 17. An Eastern Airlines DC-8 jet aeroplane with 107 people on board halted its take-off at Logan International Airport today when it collided with a flock of starlings. The DC-8, bound for Philadelphia and Miami, had 99 passengers and a crew of eight. The aeroplane was gaining momentum for the take-off when the pilot cut the engines as the birds splashed into the wings and air intakes.
