HI-JINX AND KARINA

Summer Carnival Prospects (New Zealand Press Association) WILLINGTON, Nov. 18. If Hi-Jink and Karina were not "murdered’* by handicappers in the next few months, they would probably compete in New Zealand at the forthcoming summer carnivals, said T. H. Knowles, the trainer of the two mares, at Wellington Airport today on his return from Melbourne. Knowles said that if he considered the weights given the mares were prohibitive they would race again in Australia though the retirement of Hi-Jinx was also being considered. Asked whether he thought the second and third horses. Howsie and Ilumquh, were unlucky in their minor placings in the Melbourne Cup, Knowles said he thought Howsie had every chance, but Ilumquh did not receive as good a run as he might have. Hi-Jinx had won on her merits.
