Waikari Sports

The decision to hold the annual Waikari sports meeting in November instead of March-early April, as has been the custom since the inception of the meeting in 1921, appears a most satisfactory one for the Waikari Sports Association. Last year the association met with a disappointing response, as many athletes had lost interest because of the lateness of the meeting and the association decided to seek an earlier date. The entries for the athletic events for the meeting today are a record and the handicap events are expected to provide some good finishes. More than 40 athletes are entered for the sprint events and in some of the longer events it has been necessary to arrange the fields into A and B sections to avoid heats.
